Commissioned piece for Michael Richman. Do you consider yourself an early bird or a night owl? We all have the preferred time of day when we feel at our most productive and awake. Where time feels to be on our side for once and gives use as much as we need. It makes you think how malleable time really is and how easily it is broken apart into more manageable pieces.

I am so happy with the way this piece turned out. This one took a really long time to complete, but it was so worth it. This is a commissioned piece depicting the many contributions glass and lenses have made to the advancement of science and how they have help to broaden our view of the universe.

This piece was inspired by the testimonies I have heard from people who have taken psychedelic drugs. Psychedelic drugs often present a contradiction. Yes they can cause a great deal of harm if used irresponsibly, but they also have the power to ignite the imagination and transport the user deep within themselves. You can find equal parts joy and pain while experimenting and it is up to the individual what they get out of the experience. So don’t panic, have a cup of tea and enjoy the high!

Continuing my series on childhood wonder, this piece invokes how looking up at the stars inspirers curiosity and awe in the mind of a child. I think we have all at one point dreamed of being an Astronaut when we were young, I know I did. And why not? You see the endless beauty of the stars you just want to be part of it. Although this dream did not come to pass for many we can still look back on those moments when we were inspired to explore a world just out of reach.

Part of the Million Little Pieces Series, this painting was meant to mirror the cool, breezy essence of oxygen, the element that makes our sky blue and the air we breathe. Partly inspired by my fathers near death illness of the lungs this piece captures the freedom of healing and the pleasure of air.

The last painting in my "Childlike Wonder" series. This piece focused on the childlike fascination with travel and exploration. As a kid I would often let a balloon go and watch as it sails into the sky and well out of sight. I would often wonder where those balloons would end up, thinking about all the wonderful sights it saw along the way. Such thoughts as children often inspire us to seek out those distant lands as adult.

Like it says in the title, this piece is about the childhood joys of playing in the water. When I was a kid I would often seek out puddles or fountain to sale paper boats or umbrella's or anything else that would float. Often i would fall in, joining those boats, only i did not float. Looking back I often think of these moments as some of the happiest in my childhood. So for this piece wanted to capture that simple feeling of childhood fun.

Continuing in my "State of Matter" series this piece is a visualization of the state of matter, gas. In my opinion the most delicate state of matter this pieces explores both the vulnerability and beauty of such a state.

Although it has been a long time coming I wanted to share my tribute to the memory of Kobe Bryant. Although this painting did not start as a tribute to the late, great shooting guard the more I worked on it the more his image and legacy came to my mind. In this piece we see a shiny, powerful hand and forearm seemingly being struck down by a bolt of lighting, much how Kobe was struck down before his time.

I think it is important in times of crisis and disorder to step back and appreciate the absurdity of the situation. Stepping outside of ourselves and seeing the world for what it truly is can often be a confusing and disorienting experience, especially when you’re not sure how you got in this situation in the first place. But if you confront the absurdity and acknowledge it for what it is can lead to a moment of clarity.

Imagine the metaphorical "self" as a cube. On the outside the cube is covered in plane paper wrapping. Very standard, organized and unassuming. This is the face we often present on the outside in order to fit in to the system we have created. However if you peel away that outer wrapping you will find bright colors, shifting shapes and the confusing riddle that is the inner self. All of our personalities are colorful puzzles that are constantly moving and changing, never fully solved, but never needing to be solved.

Continuing with my exploration of all forms of matter this piece dives into the attributes of Liquid. Liquid to me has always been a form that brings a sense of calm and peace to my being. Like the human spirit liquid is flexible and able to fit into any shape. It is able to adapt to most environments and goes hand in hand with life itself.

The first piece in my "State of Matter" series this painting is a visualization of the experience of being a solid form. I wanted to represent this particular state of being through the feeling of touch or even pain. When you look at this piece it suggests the sensations of smooth stone, of rough texture and even the pain of penetration. In other word feeling the sensations of solidity; a state of being that both gives the reassurance of strength and durability, but also the vulnerability of someday being broken.

The machines of industry are ever moving forward, creating more material wealth for the richest among us, all the while poisoning the planet with their sickening fumes. The heart of our world is diseased and struggling to draw breath. The longer this goes on the harder it will be cure this illness.

The newest edition to my climate change series, this piece metaphorically depicts the dying of the earth. By over farming and robbing the earth of its nutrients we will eventually create a world where the earth will no longer be able to sustain life as we know it.

Commissioned piece for Michael Richman. Bio-luminescence animals akin to natures light-bulbs. Especially beautiful are the many glowing creatures of the sea, who use their natural light to hunt for food and defend against predators. Unfortunately many of these beautiful creatures are slowly being whipped out do to the intervention of humans, replacing the light of nature with light of our own creation. More and more over time as well fill our oceans with pollution we are also fill it with the ghosts of millions of years worth of sea life.

Part of the Million Little Pieces Series this painting depicts the controversial element of Uranium. In the wake of Hiroshima and Nagasaki the world was forever faced with the possibility of total annihilation. Faced with this knowledge, hope for the future can be easily beaten down and treed underfoot. But hope does not die that easily. Sadako Sasaki, a survivor of Hiroshima, is remembered for folding 1,000 paper cranes before succumbing to illness caused by radiation. Today the paper crane has become a symbol of hope for all who wish for a peaceful world.

Thanks to the innovation of the smart phone our society has become an interconnected web of communication, not unlike bees within a hive.

Sulfur is an element often associated with evil or at least devilish intent due to its overwhelming smell of rotten eggs. This piece was also partially inspired by the TV show Twin Peaks, a program both well known for devilish intent and damn good breakfast food.

Nature is unforgiving. Things live and things die. Even if all life on earth were snuffed out all together the universe would continue moving and shifting without pause. We as humans constantly search out patterns between our actions and the workings of the planet in a vain attempt to have some say in the workings of nature. The earth is constantly moving changing and spiraling out of control. So do our actions have consequences? Of course they do. We have been the cause of destruction on a massive scale. And yet we have so little say in what happens in the very environment we depend so much on and have so little understanding of our small yet insignificant part in it.

The first painting in the Unseen Events series. This Piece abstractly illustrates the overall concept of the Unseen Event in modern Physics. An Unseen Event is any cosmic or quantum event that cannot be directly observed by the viewer and therefore can only be detected by the effects the event has on the objects around it. My goal within this series was to depict all the universal concepts that hold our world together, but do not have an actually physical form within that world. Within this piece I illustrated Schrodinger’s Cat, a famous thought experiment, aligned with the veins of a human eye, thus depicting both the “seen” and the“Unseen”.

Painting 7 in the Unseen Events series. This piece loosely depicts Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. This principle states that we can never be sure of a partials location in space because even the process of observing the particle effects its location and even its form. In this piece we observe a fully formed white rose through the lens of a pair of glasses, but as we pull the glasses aside the rose is revealed to be in shredded to pieces, thus illustrating how observation effects reality.

Painting number 4 in the Unseen Events series. This piece depicts the concept of Singularity. In simple terms a singularity is a location so small it occupies exactly no space and no time. A point as close to nothing as you can possibly get. To illustrate this I depicted the very pinch of an hourglass magnified to the point you can see the macroscopic pieces of sand trapped within the smallest space of the glass, trapping us within the moment.

Painting 5 in the Unseen Events series. A still life representing the Four Fundamental Forces of the Universe; Electro Magnetism, Gravity, the Strong Force and the Weak force. The light bulb represents Electro Magnetism, while the apple represents gravity, as it harkens back to the old myth about Sir Isaac Newton and the apple falling on his head. The next two are harder to understand because we do not come into direct contact with us in our daily life. The string of beads represents the Strong Force, which is the force that is responsible for binding together Atoms. The decaying berry branch in the background represents the Weak Force, which is responsible for nuclear decay and radiation. All these objects are positioned on top of a spiral, an ancient symbol of the Universe and positioned within a void.

Part of the Unseen Events series. Curved space-time happens when a large object, such as a star, is so massive its gravity actually causes space and time to warp around it even if humans are too small to actually see or feel it. I have illustrated two ants traversing a bowl, topped with the rod of a broken clock pendulum. The red ant (representing us) lags behind in the center of the bowl (representing a warp in time and space) while the black ant has already reached the end of the pendulum rod, emphasizing the difference in distance for the two ants and thus the difference in time and space.

Part of the Unseen Events series, this piece abstractly illustrates the concept of Electro Magnetic Fields. The silver bell and the coquille shell are drawn together by unnamed forces between the hands resembling the positive and negative magnetic forces. The hands are then arranged in a Cats Cradle to form a crude field around the two objects representing the fields of magnetic force that surrounds everyone and everything on this planet.
